Insights on Product Management Analytics for Mattress Makers

Stratifyd analyzed more than 7,000 reviews from on mattresses manufactured by both Casper and Tuft & Needle. We wanted to gauge customer sentiment on the product itself to understand which of the two customers prefered. Both companies primarily ship queen size mattresses, so for this analysis we looked at the quality, price, and delivery of the queen size only.

We did not just look at the overall customer satisfaction ratings but also the sentiment behind what is written by the customer to accompany the review. Below, in the top portion of the graph, are the numbers for both overall product satisfaction and sentiment rating, with customer satisfaction rated on a 1 to 5 scale and sentiment score rated on a -5 to +5 scale.


In the lower portion of the infographic, you can see Stratifyd’s analysis of the top three reasons customers returned mattresses. Those dissatisfied with the mattresses from either manufacturer reported the product was too soft, had sizing issues, or had a persistent smell.

By understanding customer feedback on products through AI powered analytics and unsupervised machine learning, companies can recognize issues in real time.
