Joe Topinka, a career Chief Information Officer, author, speaker, coach, and a three-time CIO-of-the-year award winner, will be a guest speaker at Stratifyd’s town hall meeting on Friday. He’ll be addressing his experiences helping companies grow, predictions for next-gen IT, and, of course, making time for questions.
“I can’t wait for Joe to share his wisdom with us,” Stratifyd CEO Derek Wang said. “He’s done some really great things at SnapAV and has helped the company scale exponentially in such a short time. He’s going to provide some amazing insight and inspiration for us.”
Wang and Topinka met in 2017 when Topinka’s youngest child, Elsa, was an intern at Stratifyd. They reconnected at the Charlotte Area Tech Collaborative’s Cool Innovation presentation for finalists last week. Topinka was a judge and is staying tight-lipped about the award winners.
He’s been in IT for 41 years, spending 20 of them as CIO at companies of varying sizes. He’s currently serving as the CIO of SnapAV – a company selling audio and visual products which help simplify lives – where he’s built an IoT platform for its customer base.
Topinka’s helped scale SnapAV from $170 million to $550 million in revenue in less than five years by developing standards and enterprise architecture and identifying valuable mergers and acquisitions, helping to establish the budding tech community in Charlotte.
“It’s been fun to see the growth,” Topinka said. “In the five years I've been here, it’s grown tremendously. I'm part of Ballantyne IT and [the] CATC, and we’re really focused on trying to grow the tech footprint and make Charlotte a premier destination for IT professionals from around the country, and, ultimately, around the globe.”
